It has been exactly 2 years, 5 months, and 8 days since we started negotiations on a new Certificated Contract. The process of negotiations is vital to all of us as YCTA Members and the means we have to ensure fair treatment and comparable salaries. As you probably noticed in my email last Thursday, the District’s bargaining team has refused to negotiate salary for the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 school years since bargaining began April 1, 2011.

I don’t know about you, but I didn’t take a break for two years. I want the time we worked counted! Just because the District does not want to engage with us doesn’t mean the past disappears. The District needs to address these two years by offering more than 0%.

·         Tuesday, Sept. 10 YCUSD Board Meeting, 5:20 at the District Office

I have been invited and I will be at the Board Meeting tomorrow. Please plan to be there and make sure you invite someone else to come with you. We need to support our Bargaining Team.


·         Friday, Sept. 13Equal Pay Day  (WEAR BLACK)

If we worked for MJUSD this would be the first day of the school year. In Marysville, with the current gap between our salaries and theirs, we would have worked the last month for free!


·         Tuesday, Sept. 17 Bargaining


·         Thursday, Sept. 19General Membership Meeting

Good, bad, or ugly, our Bargaining Team will provide an update. Executive Board wants us to gather to hear it in person. Don’t miss this meeting!
