YCTA in the News

We had another great night as we stood together in the street and before the Board.  Josh Roberts, our YCTA Treasurer and YCHS math teacher, was terrific as he presented the board with our salary analysis.  Their analysis misrepresents the data by cherry picking only the BA+30 and BA+60.  The reality is that YCUSD principals are the highest paid among the 12 district selected by the District for comparison while YCUSD teachers are ranked 11 out of 12.  See the data on YCTA.net.  Let's make teachers as competitive as principals.  We all play vital roles in educating students.

Our proposal is reasonable and fair given the 17% increase in revenue.  We will be back at the table on Thursday.  Stay tuned.

We will be taking the next step as we act together.  Competitive salaries are key to attracting and retaining the best for our students.  Tomorrow you can expect an email with the hand-out from the meeting and more info.

Thank you to all who braved the colder darker weather to join us tonight.  You make a difference in classrooms every day.  We do important work every day for kids.  I was reminded last night of the countless other obligations of teaching as report cards are upon us.  Thank you for all you do.

See you again soon

Dina
