We are YCTA. United to Ask the District to Value Us, Respect Us. and Negotiate with Us.

During the day yesterday we found a variety of ways to Show Our Support as our Bargaining Team met with the District.  Check out the pictures on Facebook.  Bargaining Updates should be in your boxes on Monday.

That evening, we gathered at AK.  We greeted parents and students as they entered campus for Open House.  We encouraged students to enter our drawing for a free book.  We gave students our YCTA frisbees, jump ropes, pencils, or some other free items.  We gave their parents information to help support their child (attached).  We also gave parents a brief flier about our interest in RESPECT (example attached).  It was a positive event.  We were well received by parents and students.  Hope to see you at future events as we ask our community to join in our request for respect andnegotiations that reflect the same.

We need to inform our community that we have reasonable expectations:
Value Us, Respect Us. and Negotiate with Us.  Cautionary Note:  Do not engage conversations of this nature with parents at school.  You may however engage in these conversations elsewhere in our community.  We did not nor did we intend to distribute the respect flier on campus to parents.  We limited our distribution of this message to the sidewalks around the school.  Ours is a positive message about teachers and educators who care about kids and their jobs, but also want to valued and respected.  Polling continues to indicate that the public trusts teachers to know what is best for our students and our schools.

We hope to gather again at other school sites to continue to develop our partnership with parents and our community.  Let us know about the events at your site.

Thank you to all of our members who were able to stand
together on the sidewalk surrounding AK to show our UNITY.  We must show our District that we are UNITED to ask the District to Value Us, Respect Us, and Negotiate with Us.

The District Bargaining Team will present our proposal to the Board in closed session on Tuesday 4/23 beginning at 5:30PM.  Our Board should know that we are UNITED to support our Bargaining Team.

Yuba City Teachers Association:
